HaV want to highlight the important natural values of the lake Åsnen Mörrumsån
News 2014-10-17
Environmental Protection Agency and the County Administrative Board of Kronoberg County are working to create a national park at the lake Åsnen in Småland.
– The area has several valuable aquatic, both in and south of Åsnen in Mörrumsåns basin. Therefore, we are now entering, and supports a project to highlight and raise awareness of these natural values, says Erik Törnblom, at Sea- and Water Authority, HaV.
The current national park area is located in Alvesta and Tingsryds municipalities and on the border of the City of Växjö. Primarily covered nature reserves Agnäs, Bjurkärr and West Lake Åsnen archipelago that all linked together by the lake Åsnen.
In Åsnen a rich plant- and wildlife, and the number of species of fish and aquatic snails are significantly larger than in other lakes in Kronoberg County.
– Mörrumsån and its catchment is one of the most valuable aquatic environments in southern Sweden, not least for its salmon- and trout stocks. HaV has long supported various projects to create free migration routes in the river, says Erik Törnblom, investigator on the CBD at the ocean.
– But, This is also valuable aquatic vegetation, rare mussels, benthic animals, plant- and zooplankton, and several rare fish species. Now we want to get a better overall picture of the water environment and create a better understanding of the natural values.
By forming a National Park gets an area the strongest protection a natural area can get. National Parks should be representative of the landscape but also environments that can provide strong nature. The main responsibility for Sweden's national parks lies with the Environmental Protection Agency but HaV included in the working group on the formation of the ridge.
HaV ger nu 175 000 crowns in contributions to a project run by the county of Kronoberg. The money will result in a report of the water values in and south of Lake Åsnen in Mörrumsåns basin in Kronoberg County. It shall include biological and chemical studies of water but also descriptions of fishing and water conservation measures.
– The initiative can be seen as a pilot project, it is the first time HaV takes an active role in efforts to form a national, says Erik Törnblom.
– But, we believe that the need to identify and highlight our vattenmiljöers value will increase, not only in terms of national parks, but also other protected and protected areas. In this pilot project, we will also obtain data to identify general models to support this work in the best way
The Environmental Protection Agency's National Plan of 2008 Included 13 new areas and expansion of seven areas. There are today 29 National Parks in Sweden, with an area of approximately 7 400 square. Kosterhavet is Sweden's only marine national park. The inauguration of Lake Åsnen National Park is scheduled for 2016.

Get the fuck off our water = more trout on the West Coast
News 2014-09-20
Anglers parts through Project Get the fuck off our water money to fish conservation efforts for sea trout on the West Coast. - Every dollar helps to better conditions for trout, says Erik Ohlsson, one of the initiators Get the fuck off our water.
Get the fuck off our waters attention how bad things are with the environment in many Swedish waters. The project was started by a group of rock musicians with Anglers. The profit from record sales and sales of unique Get the fuck off our water products goes to environmental- and fish conservation projects. More than a million dollars has already been collected.
Three different interventions may now receive grants along with volunteering will improve for trout.
Fish Conservation Network Gothenburg receives money from Get the fuck off our water to fund the purchase of tools and materials to work. The network was formed 2010 and currently consists of about 40 volunteers dedicated fish keepers who work with sea trout streams in the Gothenburg region. Demolition of migration, tree planting, reed clearing, placement of spawning gravel and stones stalls, elfisken and review of culverts is a big part of the business.
Trout Academy is a nonprofit organization that since its inception 2010 agree to Tanums municipality rivers in northern Bohuslän. They get money from Get the fuck off our water to use for materials and travel. The association is working to migrate freely, better spawning ground for sea trout and a high biodiversity in waterways. Another goal is to increase the general knowledge about fishing rules and fishing ethics at coastal fishing for sea trout.
The third project will Angler's regional office in Gothenburg and the County Administrative Board of Västra Götaland work together to restore two streams where trout and freshwater pearl mussel species occur. The goal is to obtain an increased acreage of nursery areas for trout, a measure that will also benefit flodpärlmusslorna in waterways.

News 2014-05-28 – We have last year received reports of being caught in more places and in much larger quantities than before, including in the Gothenburg area. We hope for the public's help to get an idea of how extensive the spread is, says Sofia Brockmark at Sea- and Water Authority. The species is native to the Caspian Sea, Black Sea, Aazovskasjön and Marmara Sea but has probably via ballast water spread to the Great Lakes of North America and the Baltic Sea. The first discovery was made in the Baltic Sea 1990 in the Gulf of Gdansk, where the species presently established and it has also spread to the Gulf of Finland in the northeast and in the west Rugenområdet. In an exploratory fishery in the Karlskrona archipelago summer 2009 caught a total of nine individuals at seven locations. Today it is considered to be established there, and also in the Gothenburg area. .- We have had contact with a fisherman Recently up as much as 30 kg of round goby in a fishery outside Karlskrona. We know that it even exists ii Gothenburg harbor, Karlshamn, Visby harbor and then 2013 there have also been findings of internal Bråviken and Muskö in Stockholm archipelago, says Sofia Brockmark, investigator on the CBD at the ocean. – Recent finds of suspected round goby has been made by fishermen in Kalmar in spring. We have been informed that there may be hundreds of individuals in a catch. To date, no findings reported from northern Sweden, nor in the Great Lakes Vänern and Vättern. The round goby is resistant to varying environmental conditions, withstands temperatures from minus 1 ° C to plus 30 ° C and can propagate in both sweet- and saltwater. It matures early and can, under favorable conditions play up to six times during a season. The male guards the nest, which increases the survival of eggs and larvae. It is also more aggressive and larger than many other demersal coastal fish species. – Introduction of alien species are a major threat to biodiversity in our lakes, rivers and seas. As an example, the introduction of signal crayfish in many places completely wiped out the indigenous crayfish. The round goby is singled out as one of the species that represent a high risk of fisheries and aquaculture if it establishes itself, says Ann-Britt Florin, adjunct lecturer at the Department of Aquatic Resources at Swedish University of Agricultural, SLU. – In Denmark bothers you also for its potential negative impact on räkbeståndet. The risk is that the round goby competes with other groundfish species eelpout and black goby on settlements and flounder about food. – Once you got into an alien species must act quickly to have a chance to stop the spread. Increased knowledge of how large the spread and impact species have on native species and habitats are important to decide on possible actions to be inserted, says Sofia Brockmark – Round goby caught up, however bad in the regular environment monitoring. It took five years from first discovery in Sweden until the species appeared in the annual survey fishing. Here we are instead dependent on reports from private individuals to monitor the spread, says Ann-Britt Florin. The round smörbultent is a yellowish-brown black spotted fish with a black spot on the first dorsal fin posterior part. When the males playing and protects the fry remain completely black with vitkantade fins. This species also differs from other gobies in that it is much stronger and has a relatively large head. From scorpion fish and seaweed leaches distinction is the easiest way to it like other gobies have a ventral adhesions that form a suction disk. It can reach a maximum 25 centimeters but is usually 13-14 inches for females and 17-18 cm for males. – According to information from local anglers in the Western Region, the existence of the species grown quickly in just a few years. Mainly this has been observed in the brackish water at the North Bank at the entrance of Gothenburg Harbour but also inside the moat, says Anna Dimming marine ecologist, County Administrative Board of Västra Götaland. – Now on Thursday, 29 May, seeking the årliga Vallgravsmetet in central Gothenburg where we wish the participants are extra attention to the nature. All fish from the competition is to be giving us more information about the species spread more upstream Gota River in central Gothenburg. All fish from the competition is to be giving us more information about the species spread more upstream Göta River, says Anna Dimming marine ecologist, County Administrative Board of Västra Götaland The round goby is not only a risk, but also a resource. In the Gulf of Gdansk is the now the dominant food for splicing but also for cod and perch. In its area of origin, it is also common as a food fish. If you find a fish that you think is a round goby, report your findings on Artportalen.se or slu.se/svartmunnadsmorbult Read more about the first findings in Swedish waters >> Here you can report the findings of round goby >> Here you can see the spread of the round goby in the Baltic Sea >> Read more about the round goby in marine:s hemsida >> News 2014-05-13 The Swedish quota allocated for the three coastal areas with respect to the stocks for protection, inception for fixed gear in Norrland change and sea facing new rules on the landing of salmon. – In several of the Swedish rivers are the stocks of wild salmon weak and they therefore need greater protection for recovering, says Håkan Carlstrand on the ocean. In the Baltic Sea are closer 30 rivers where salmon spawn and laxungarna grows up. Half of the rivers in Sweden and every river has its own stocks of salmon. Laxungarna growing up in the rivers and then migrate out to sea where they remain for some years to as sexually mature repatriate to play to the river they come from. In order to adapt to each individual fishery stocks for protection is then 2013 all Swedish commercial fishing for salmon with fixed traps in shallow water near the mouths of rivers in the sea. – One consequence of this is that small-scale commercial fishing in mainly northern Sweden has been strengthened, says Håkan Carlstrand, investigators on the device for regulating fish. The Swedish rivers including border river Torne River produces 95 percent of all wild salmon in the Baltic Sea. Of the Swedish rivers, it is now three rivers, Vindelälven, Kalix River Torne River that have reached or are close to achieving the goals of the hydropower production of young salmon. But most rivers with wild salmon stocks have been weak and does not reach the goals of conservation. Eight Swedish rivers are extended by water and occurs where the cultivation and release of young salmon to compensate for damage to the natural production. They farmed salmon are distinguished from wild salmon by adipose fin removed. I:Council of Ministers has decided that for the Swedish commercial fishing quota available for years 2014 should be 29 856 salmon, this includes both wild as farmed salmon. On board low quota 30 400 salmon. HaV:The decision of 20 000 salmon may be caught in the Gulf of Bothnia, 8 500 salmon in the Gulf of Bothnia and 400 salmon in coastal fisheries with fixed traps in the other Baltic. The remaining part of the Swedish quota, 956 salmon, aside for bycatch in other fisheries. – We believe that this allocation of the quota will protect the weak populations of wild salmon and that the total salmon catch half will consist of farmed salmon, says Martin Rydgren, investigators on the device for regulating fish. The general fish start of commercial fishing with static gear in Norrbotten, Västerbotten and Västernorrland become in the years 17 June. Fish start of recreational fishing with fixed traps in this area is set to the 1 july. Recreational fishing is conducted with the same type of fixed gear that commercial fishing uses but this fishery is not regulated by any quota, be unlike commercial fishing does not take place for the open market and do not report their catches or landings – Fish start is resolved with respect to the farmed salmon again later migrate to the coast than the wild salmon. Its purpose is to increase the farmed salmon's share of the catch and protect wild salmon, especially the weak stocks says Håkan Carlstrand, investigators at the ocean. For commercial fisheries in the Gulf of Bothnia and the Gulf of Bothnia is introduced from this year, a provision that the landings of salmon should be notified in advance to sea. – Through physical landing control, we can check that the salmon are landed also reported and thus deducted from each area available laxkvot, Carina says Dagbro, Head of the landing control in Luleå and Västervik. Seas has also, As part of increasing the protection of wild salmon, allocated funds to the county administrative boards to preserve and restore the environment of rivers and the Västerbotten County to start the project with management plans for salmon stocks in individual rivers. HaV will this year also to decide on the project to develop selective and gentle fixed gear for inshore fishing and start a review of the rules for fishing in rivers. News - Now it will be easier to find and understand the rules that apply to recreational fishing in Sweden five large lakes and along the coast. Hopefully increased knowledge of the rules and why they are also sure that we can better protect fish stocks, says Stig Thörnqvist, investigators at the ocean. The new site is the same for all the country's county boards. Through maps, visitors can zoom in and out on the coasts and in the lakes Vänern, Vättern, Hjalmaren, Mälaren and the Great Lake in Jämtland. The goal is to simply explain the rules that apply in those waters, for example, minimum dimensions, closed seasons, which tools should be used and the boundaries of protected areas. - We saw a need to improve the information available to anglers. This has resulted in a website where you based on map features can read about the rules that apply to recreational fishing in the five largest lakes and along the Swedish coast, says Adam Johansson, Fisheries consultant at the County Administrative Board of Jönköping responsible for the operation and support of the website. The map function is closer 500 digitized surfaces with current fishing rules. On the page you can also find information on why the rules imposed, which will contribute to a greater understanding of the regulatory purpose and to follow the rules more. Since Sweden is a large country with many species of fish that live in different environments and have different form of protection varies fisheries rules. Surveys by Statistics, SCB, shows that more than one million Swedes recreational fishing every year. According to a report by the National Board of Fisheries 2009 fishes seven out of ten children and young people aged 10 – 15 years. For many years, Sweden has been the rights of the public to recreational fishing without a special permit along the coasts and in the Great Lakes. - Although it is not required to fish in the ocean and the five great lakes so has everyone who fishes obligation to first find out which rules apply. But the rules are often localized and they change over time, which places high demands on recreational fishermen to stay updated. We hope that this website can be of great help, says Håkan Carlstrand, investigators at the ocean. - The launch of the website is entirely in line with the Board of Agriculture and Marine- and Water Authority's national strategy "Swedish recreational fishing and fishing in 2020" says Daniel Melin, recreational strategist at Agriculture Administration. The high interest means that recreational fisheries need to be regulated to create good fish and good fishing now and in the future. About half of recreational fishing catches made in the sea, and half of the country's lakes and rivers. It is also in these areas that Sea- and Water Authority has a government mandate to decide on the rules for fishing. The county administrative boards have regional authority vast knowledge of natural, Water- and fish conservation, fish stocks and recreational fishing. – Svenskafiskeregler.se is also a way for us at the county administrative boards to integrate fisheries regulations with other natural- and fish conservation work says Anton Halldén, provincial fisheries consultant at the County Board of Jönköping. HaV, Board of Agriculture and the county today launches website "Svenska fiskeregler.se" Angling of Fair. News – Only three of Salmon, de i Himleån, Suseån and Stensån, reaches the conservation objectives that have been set. And the past slips from researchers shows that the downward trend continues, says Håkan Carlstrand, utredare on the device for regulating fishing on the Sea. HaV:The decision of fishing for salmon is no longer permitted with nets in waters that are deeper than three meters in the Skagerrak and Kattegat. The aim is to avoid fishing in areas where salmon from different rivers mix with each other. Additionally, no more than two fish, whether it is salmon or trout, retained per angler per day on artisanal fishing in the Kattegat and Skagerrak, except in Svinesund and Idefjord. Artisanal fishing is not currently regulated in addition to the general provisions that are on closed seasons and minimum sizes. HaV therefore believe that it is reasonable to regulate this fishery more to increase the protection of stocks. – We sent out the proposal for comment in December to the counties of Skåne, Halland and Västra Götaland, Agriculture and national organizations for various fishing interests. Basically so recommend reviewing bodies proposal, says Håkan Carlstrand. – But there are also individual fishermen affected by the amended rules. We are aware of this, but from a biological point of view, the situation is so serious that we must act to protect populations of wild salmon on the west coast. On the west coast there 23 streams with production of wild salmon and hundreds of production of trout. West Coast salmon spawn in rivers from Ronne, on the south by Enningdalsälven the Norwegian border. After one to two years the rivers is laxungarna these and wanders out into the Atlantic. They take all the way up to Greenland to grow large and after a few years to be repatriated to the streams where they were born to spawn. Therefore, there is a separate salmon stocks in each watercourse. On the way home the salmon migrate from the different stocks are often first down in the southern Kattegat before turning north again along the west coast to look up their own streams. Unlike salmon, so do the trout no longer walks but stay mainly in the Kattegat and Skagerrak before migrating back to the river for spawning. – The density of young salmon in the rivers have an average half since the 80s. Since the 1990s, the density of kids trout in the rivers and gradually decreased in recent years we have seen a sharp reduction, says Håkan Carlstrand. The survival of juvenile salmon during the first year in the Atlantic Ocean have declined dramatically since the 1980s. The explanation may be klimatförändringarhar worsened the conditions for salmon survival in the Atlantic. Other causes could include hydroelectric dams and, acidification, diseases and parasites. Recent years have also seen a sharp increase in fishing with nets in the southern Kattegat where wild salmon from the weak and strong stocks and farmed salmon mixed. HaV will continue to review the regulations for fishing in the rivers to further increase protection of salmon and trout. The changes for salmon- and trout fishing on the west coast shall enter into force on 7 March. Round goby is classified as a foreign, invasive species of fish in Swedish waters. The first copy was discovered 2008 Karlskrona archipelago and now seems the species spread at a record pace.
Stronger protection for the stocks of wild salmon in the Baltic Sea
Sea- and Water Authority, HaV, have now adopted new rules for inshore fishing with static gear for salmon in the Baltic Sea.
New site makes life easier for anglers
Sea- and Water Authority (HaV), Board of Agriculture, and the county today launched the website "Swedish Fiskeregler.se" on Angling Fair in Stockholm.
New rules for salmon- and trout fishing on the West Coast to protect stocks
Sea- and Water Authority, HaV, introduces new rules for fishing for salmon and trout in the Kattegat and Skagerrak. The reason is that the stocks of wild salmon on the west coast deteriorated since the 1980s despite several measures to improve the environment of the watercourses.
