Soroya – 2009

In this fishing reports Soroya – 2009 takes Team Poseidon with us at one fiskeäventyr till Sørøysund in Norway.

Although this year's Norway Visiting went to Soroya and with hindsight, it would prove to be the right decision. We were on this year's trip was me and my Father (Olle) and Marian from Team Fishing & fishes and Michael Hagen “German” från sneaks fishing team, all but the German would stay 2 weeks.

Early on the morning of 24 June we sat in a taxi that would take us to Copenhagen for further transport to Oslo – Alta and finally Soroya where we arrived early evening. After we have been awarded our accommodation and installed ourselves in our room so we decide to go out for fishing right then it would blow up in the morning. We would fish in the boat and guide both weeks there and it was Charlie who was our guide me and Dad and German knew Charlie since previous trips. It would appear that there was 2 nice week with much laughter and with many nice fish in the boat.

Guide boat we fish in the

First day / night we leave port at 23 time tired after the trip I had to make night fishing directly ! we were out fishing at all costs when you have to seize every opportunity for the weather changes fast up there. So it was with tense expectation we leave the port and headed Reis one of the better cod places up there, some boats went to Runningen. When we almost have arrived so we hear on the VHF:one to one 20 + cod is landed, and another one is coming up in another boat and this on their first release. Man sitting and thinking we would also get big cod fish cravings rises.

Then we were on the spot and we do first release, it does not take many minutes before Marian says “there sat the” and after a little while, a cod around 10 kg up. After a short while so it was my turn, and it feels good at the same time Olle also on one but when it comes to the surface so show it to be a tusk and it gets a little laughter in the boat but mine is a cod 15 + Olle throw back Lubben and mumbles some unpleasant words. But then it was his turn and he lands also a cod 15 + Unfortunately, we forgot wave in the country so we could get the exact weight.

The 3:th day after sleeping all day Thursday so we rested we had been blown all day Thursday. On Friday calm wind up so much that a long trip to Råsa stood on schedule on Friday night.

So at 21:30 We leave the port again and headed for Råsa which is the best site when it comes to large cod many large cod landed here over the years where the biggest been just over 34 kg. On the way out we have several whales around us a cool experience. Once in place, we start fishing on the first release, I get a cod around 10 kg. There are hoards himself under the boat and they go great cod so all run using a jig and saithe.

Charlie is the first to draw a real nice cod weighing 25,2 kg and this other operation. How would this overnight stop…. VHF:a report the other boats on the big cod over 20 kg. We have barely been out here in 1 hour and it is almost only 15 + cods coming up, totally outrageously which fishing.

Then it is time for Olle getting one on 19 kg when he took the he drops back. And it does not take many minutes before a really nice fish takes sejen after a while it will rise to the surface. The cod weighed 27 kg and 140 cm 2 Each of the 25 kg in a short while totally sick. All boats reports of at least 1 of 20 kg per boat completely senseless. Olle get the biggest out there on nice 27 kg. It is estimated that we had around 20 cods of 15 kg up in the boat on this lucky enough to experience a place like cod fishing was really cool. We re-exposing all but the Olle got on 27 kg carried into the home as a food fish.

We interrupt fishing at 4 o'clock in the morning which is great cod fishing we had experienced…

The 4:th day we wake up in the afternoon the sea is flat and a new long ride planned departure in the evening but this time very cold breaker. Once in the boat, we leave the harbor in the evening and begin the journey out there who will take approximately 2 hours all in the guide boat silent on the way out not much is being said… all be thinking the same thing what would happen out there.

After approximately 2 hours, we are in place and we start fishing German sheep on a flounder in the first release that begins well. We had decided on the way out that we were going to flounder so it was that we target fisheries for. A moment later it was my turn a small flounder had taken my jig.

They're here now, it would just get someone up in a good size. And it does not take long before Marian and Dad cries out that it was a big flounder after Marians cod unfortunately he makes the mistake of taking up the cod from the water. Meanwhile, says German I take a coffee break and then asks Charlie… I can go fishing on your site ? All this is happening while… German responding, do it. Charlie let the jig and it slams into direct flounder that was after Marians cod took Charlie jig.

It begins with a peak of about 150 meter…. Flounder is great Charlie who has PB on 58 kg before saying this is bigger and tips on around 80 kg after several heavy surges and about 20 minutes, it will up to the boat and it is great we take 2 grab hooks to help Marian and Dad lift it into the boat we measure it 166 cm and weight about 65 kg fresh PB to Charlie unfortunately becomes damaged during landing when he wanted to re-expose the, but it was unfortunately not.

Now all became more loaded if it was going to be more at all, we drive on and from the other boats were reports of large flounders lost and a lot of flounder contacts. Among other things, dropping the German's team has another boat a really great as they followed the boat over 10 my. I miss the big cod on Råsa the day before and I had as usual been a big mouth and said,… I take it in the morning.

A short while after I get a flounder that makes several fine jams and we think it's a nice flounder, while Dad gets a nice saithe so we start discussing it might be a big himself who took my jig also, but it behaves like a flounder. After approximately 10 minutes I hear Charlie say it's flounder, Finally, I think. The way to 18 kg incredibly strong for their size.

Within an hour I got cod 21 kg and flounder on 18 kg. What a night, and the fishery we have had, we get 10 flundror boat with a peak at 65 kg, cod 21 kg and saithe in 8 kg. Unfortunately lose German a really big flounder that took his cod which was baited on a Giant Baithead. After a cruel rush so took it off again. Even from the other boats were reports of large flounders who have been dropped. We finish fishing early in the morning and drove very happy home to sleep.

The 5:th day wakes up in the afternoon to phone rings it's Charlie weather is great good and some boats have decided to go to Råsa. But we decide to go to the big cold pressed again. We were all hungry for storflundran as cod fishery did not feel so hot at the moment. This had only dreamed of 2 spells out very cold switch on 2 day how lucky with the weather we leave the port again and once in place, we start fishing.

It does not happen very Charlie and Olle get the smaller flounder but it is difficult fished and sadly shows great cold machine is not at its best. We must 3 – 4 småflundror and some cod up to just under 10 kg, we may however experience sejkok a large area completely boils off her. They boats that went to Råsa had a great cod fishery that was absolutely incredible, inter alia, 1 boat 17 cods of 15 kg with peak at around 25 kg. On these two sessions on the big cold machine we had 14 flundror boat with a peak at 65 kg, 18 kg then the rest was between 4 – 10 kg.

The 6:th day this day we had planned to run an evening shift for redfish in the same position as they were world records last year. The weather was perfect for deep sea angling slight breeze and almost no power. As Charlie put the boat in place and in the first operation may Marian lifted his first redfish in about 3 kg.

It comes up a few small lubbar also at angling for redfish they are impossible to avoid. German has other plans he angles with Giant Baithead out there instead and he gets a huge blow and fish sticks. It takes a while to get it from 200 meters when he has a few meters left so he drops it. After a while, we see a huge cod floating in the surface Charlie says tll everyone to take up for us to get it but then it has perked up and swum down. What the cod weighed me to say but it was huge. We fish for a while and get some small redfish I get one that will become a new PB 3,7 kg. Unfortunately, the current increases as it becomes too tedious to be out there and fish. We drive in and little fishes cod is a shorter workouts when everyone is worn out after several long trips and long hours.

The 7:day of day, the weather was a little worse so it had to be some tweaking angling in Murmansk there was no real momentum in angling but they that came up was fine. We test even pill angling in another place, but it gives no direct. German fishing for flounder with light equipment and get one in 7 – 8 kg gave a good fight on light equipment.

The 2:A week of Soroya – 2009

Today was the changeover day and a new gang would arrive in the evening and German went home today. Unfortunately, bad weather out ahead so they coming days devoted to pill angling where it gets some nice flounders.

We also 2 half days down in one place at Hasvik where there has been some flounder. The weather is bad and we have to be in the shelter for fishing and here we there. I and Marian loses whose a nice flounder and he gets even a little on the 6 kg and cod up to 14 kg another boat teams lose a 25 + in the surface and I have a successor who is really big. Another boat finds a gap in fomenting and can get out on Reis where they get a cod on the whole 32,6 drömtorsk kg. Getting cod over 30 kg dream about as fishermen and it is very difficult even in Norway.

Cod from Reis 32,6 kg

The last day the weather permits a trip out to Reis and Runningen that is 2 very good points when it comes to large cod. Charlie think we should start at Runningen and we do, but when we get there is right where many boats already and it is not something directly to us. So we decide to run away to Reis instead. We stop and there is much småsej we angles for cod quite as fast as Marian gets a nice cod.

Me and Dad had come over 20 kg had Marian “only” come up to 19 kg and that he had been told so clearly. After a while, so break a fine cod surface and there is clearly a 20 + Congratulations to Marian 20 Club weighing in country to 23 kg. We get a few hours 10 kg Charlie misses a really big cod entire flätlinan breaks! sad for it was probably really nice. We're moving a bit and I'm starting to crank up and have well vevat up about 30 meters from 90 meters! I stop for a little break. When I feel how it sucks to the rod and after a while so do I mothugget and it is a dead stop. After a few seconds, rushing the line of roller Charlie shouts “is storkveiten” but then it just becomes heavy like a rock stuck on pilken.

After a while, so goes the line straight back to the engine and I'm in the bow when the screaming Marian… it's a really big cod. Charlie says it's perhaps a 30 + we use 2 grab hooks to take up the boat well in the boat we measure it 148 cm and my digital super samson 25 kg bottoms. After a while Dad on a round 17 kg short there after we break the fishery to run out and pack and weigh my cod on the scales at the port.

Summary of Soroya – 2009

The first week we had very good fishing and good weather one day we were blown. The other day it was dead calm at sea broadly we had 3 long tours the week 2 very cold shutter and one to Råsa. The fishing this week was absolutely incredible a cod fishing world class many fine fish came up how many of 20 kg that came up on all the boats during the week I do not know but it was an incredible number. Halibut fishing was also very good, among other things, had a bunch of Boras 34 halibuts in the boat in a week. And not only that, finish them last night with 21 pc with a peak at around 50 kg a fantastic result.

The 2:a week the weather got worse and we could not reach them best seats all day we were allowed to stay in LA and pill methane and then the fishing then. But the last day, we reach places and we get a cannon ended our trip with cod 31,3 kg 23 kg and 17 kg greatest and the part just above 10 kg. Would also add that almost all the fish we had on our trip back was exposed again only a couple of food fish were retained.
